Transmission Specifications
All 1st generation Preludes were equipped with a standard 5-speed or optional Automatic (aka Hondamatic). Manual transmission were labeled "GK" from factory, Autos labeled "AK". Gear ratios were similar to the 1st generation Accord, but not the same due to the sporty nature of the Prelude. Each production year offered a different gearing to maximize power band and torque. 1979 was the only year a 2-speed Automatic was offered, later offered a 3-speed.
